Join the Parents Plus Board of Trustees

Parents Plus is currently seeking a candidate to fill a vacancy on our Board of Directors (Trustees).  We are seeking applications from interested candidates, from a Public Sector background who have a passion for making a difference in your community and strengthening families across Ireland?

Who We Are

Parents Plus is a charity on a mission to strengthen family relationships and achieve the best possible outcomes for children, young people, and parents. We research and develop evidence-based parenting and mental health programmes in collaboration with families and services, and train practitioners to deliver and evaluate these programmes in their organisations and communities, building the capacity of community, mental health, disability, and education services in Ireland and the UK.

Parents Plus vision is that families in need have access to proven and tailored parenting tools, from the services they turn to, at their point of need, in their communities, improving their outcomes and preventing difficulties or crises arising.

To support delivery of our mission and vision, we are seeking applications from skilled and motivated Trustees with senior level experience in the public sector, who can serve on the Parents Plus board to advise and guide the organisation to the next stage of its development in delivering lasting impact for services and families. This is a unique opportunity to contribute your skills and knowledge to strengthen our charity, ensuring we adhere to the highest standards of governance and compliance as outlined by the Charities Regulator in Ireland.

What you will gain as a Trustee of Parents Plus

  • Contribute to a very worthwhile mission to improve outcomes for children, young people and parents, and strengthen families.
  • Opportunity to gain experience on the Board of a national charity that has been in existence for over 20 years
  • Become part of a dynamic and motivated Board of Directors who provide direction and advice to a dedicated team of employees who will appreciate your involvement
  • Learning and training opportunities to improve your knowledge of the Charity sector

Commitment of Trustees
Trustees are expected to attend five board meetings per year and to participate in various subgroups that may be established from time to time. While the Trustees are elected at the AGM each year, we envision that Trustees who become involved consider they are making a 3-5 year commitment to this position.  As per the Charity Governance code, Trustees and non-board subcommittee members are unpaid voluntary appointments.

Application Process
You can apply to this rewarding and exciting role by:
1. Forwarding your C.V. and a statement of interest in the work of Parents Plus to the contact below.
2. C.V.’s will be reviewed by the CEO and the Chair of the board, and suitable applicants will be invited to interview for the position
3. Once a candidate is approved, he/she is invited to attend board meetings to observe with all contributions welcome during this period.  This trial period allows both the candidate and the Parents Plus Board to decide if there is a good fit.  At the end of this period, if both the candidate and the existing board members are happy, then the candidate is invited to become elected as a director at the next AGM.
