The April 2026 ADHD Parent Plus Programme delivered at Athy FRC was highly successful, with strong engagement and participation throughout. Fifteen parents registered through referrals from CAMHS, CDNT, Athy CFRC, and social media outreach, with 12 participants completing the programme.
The group brought together mothers from a variety of backgrounds, united by the shared experience of parenting a child with ADHD. Parents of children with confirmed diagnoses, as well as those awaiting assessment, benefited from the supportive and inclusive environment created during the sessions.
A key strength of the Parent Plus Programme is its practical and realistic approach to supporting families. Parents particularly valued the Parent Book, video examples, and the everyday strategies shared throughout the programme, which helped them feel more confident and supported in managing challenges at home. The opportunity to connect with other parents and share experiences created a strong sense of encouragement and understanding within the group.
Feedback highlighted the welcoming atmosphere created by Selena and Team, helping parents feel comfortable discussing the emotional realities of parenting and learning new ways to support their children. One parent shared:
“Selena and the team made us all feel very comfortable discussing the emotional day-to-day challenges with our children. We got useful information and ideas to help support them, and the discussions with other parents were invaluable.”
Due to the positive response, the next ADHD Parent Plus Programme is scheduled for October 2026. We already have parents signed up ahead of any formal advertising and are very much looking forward to delivering the programme again. Selena and Jayne are excited to continue supporting parents and building on the positive connections and learning experienced in these groups.
